Gimme the power.

Quentin has placed between the most important directors of our generation, and also one of the bests a few years back.

His films full of violence, and his scripts minutely conceived are easily spotted and recognized as an original Tarantino's creation.
This week Steve, my english teacher (Hi Steve, I know you are the only one reading my blog) give us, and with us I mean the rest of my group (who should be the rest of my readers) and me, the task of analyzing two of the best movies made by Tarantino: Death Proof and Inglorious Basterds.

¿How does Tarantino portrays the themes of violence and fear in both movies?

Both belong to a different period in Tantino's career but they share their view of violence and fear are just the same.
In one hand fear represents our limits, but in this films fear is about sumission and shame.
Being afraid it's being weak, and those who spread fear emanate power, the power of being Tarantinos main characters just as Doble Mike and Hans Landa.
Both share this feeling of supperiority, making people lay to their feet is part of a confort zone in which they both belong, but at the end they turn out hit by this overwhelming desire of revenge that Quentin presents as violence.

We might think that slapping, punching and hitting people is not the solution, well thats the same that Tarantino believes, in fact he has claimed himselt as a pacifist, but the point he wants us to get into is the fact that he is bluffing at the ones that are in favour of it.
This director laughts in the face of fear on violence, concludes that both attitudes are useless and the prove relays on the fact that none of this two movies continues after beating the bad guy, why? Cause it dosn't work.

So, the next time you watch some Tarantino's work remember hr is the god of irony.

Sharing Weekends

“Sometimes, watching a movie is a bit like being raped.”
― Luis Buñuel, My Last Sigh

I have this habit that forces me to go out on Friday, I am not used to spend my time sleepind during the weekend without feeling any remorse and this time my plan was somethind kinda typical but classy, a vistit to the Cineteca.
And there we were, Marifé, Damián and Ana Valeria just in front of the cashier ready to watch The Secret Life of Adele, but because of my so saturated schedule (and lack of an IFE), we decided on Her.

The Oscars presumed not much this film, in fact, this was a ghost-film in that ceremony so, personally, I also underestimate it too.
We enter a little late to the function (a mistake that would cost us, later, a terrible neck pain) and inmediatly when we went inside the room the laughter flooded the place, I was confused, I believed I had paid to see a typical love drama, not a comedy at all.
Finally, up in front, there were four places available (It was so close that I could feel the breath of the actors right in my face), quickly I focused on picking up the thread of the story. Two hours well spent.

From photography to the script, this story is perfect. Made for an intellectual public but perfect for those who seek to kill time. Accompanied or alone, with family, in couple or with friends, Her is  such a peculiar story that anyone, after watching the trailer I already post, would be curious to watch.

P.S. It also has some good music.

Mexico Welcomes You

Since i´m kind of new for Mexico City's lifestyle I must admit that i might be the worst guide you could listen to. Even though, I have been reserching and discovering the city just for you and here are my suggestions, just a top 5:
1. La Casa Azul de Frida Kahlo

This is my favorite place ever, even if I hate Frida Kahlo (she was such a martyr). Being inside this place is being inside herself, just herself not DiegoRiveraAndFrida,CuteCouple thing.
You don't need to be a great fan to appreciate the little details of the museum (also, you don't need to ask an annoying tourist guide for their help).

Maybe the best place to get drunk with your friends at 3:00 p.m. without being judge as a dirty alcoholic.
It might not look as a good idea if you are planning to go on you own, but once you get to know some mexicans this would be a great farewell party for you.
*WARNING: Watch out your tequila shots.

Once you get into the mood (later in yhe night, just when you leave the trajinera from Xochimilco) you need to sing out all your voice hand with some mariachis. It's a once in a lifetime experience.

If your thing is arts here is the heart of them.
With all the kinds of activities such as concerts, expositions and tours Bellas Artes is a beautiful place in an architectural form and also in an intelectual one.
Another good thing from here is that is located at the center of the city so you could maybe eat at some near point or just walk around watching all kind of people, buildings and some traditions.

Finally you are able to witness the other half of Mexico's culture, our true origins. You might found this place boring at some point buy I dare you to took a tour within it while you think about the next thing:
You might never have visited the las four places I mention without this specific one.

So there are my suggestions, i'm sure they are just a bit of all the things you're going to stop by during your visit (hope you think of me whenever you admire one of this magical places).
Thank you for challenging me in this tour, i'm afraid that it would never be true without your future visit.
Eat some tacos and sing some Pedro Infante's songs.

"I want to do songs that couldn’t be performed by anybody else"

Mika is the stage name of the London-based singer Michael (Mica) Holbrook Penniman. The 29-year-old artist was born in Beirut, Lebanon; only his father is American, while his mother is Lebanese. As Mika's family was forced to leave their town because of the war, they moved to Paris. Later they moved to London; Mika had only 9 years old. In London Mika was oriented towards the music career, as he attended the Lycee Francais Charles de Gaulle, then Westminster School and next the Royal College of Music. Mika dropped out from the Royal College of Music for recording his first album. The artist's public performances started with classical performing in the Royal Opera House, followed by his writing in-flight music for the British Airways.

Mika is better known for his songs:-Grace Kelly- Lollipop- Love Today- Celebrateetc. But also, he is an icon of pop music.
Mika's music is anything but unbearable, either. A self-taught piano virtuoso, gymnastic vocalist and born entertainer, Mika has music in his bones. His four-octave voice, which he knows when to restrain and when to unleash, needs to be heard to be believed, and he uses it to powerful effect on Life.
Across the span of three albums in six years, Mika has consistently made appealingly catchy tunes, both sunny and sharp --smart-- from "Grace Kelly" to "Blame It on the Girls" to "Popular Song", his remake of the big number from the musical Wicked.
As writer and singer Mika turns out to be a role model for everyone who consider her or himselfs a fan.Being called as the new Freddy Mercury, this man has had an impact in many ears and in all countries, being exactly what I want to achieve someday.
